What decides Maps rankings?

Google looks at three things: relevance (how well your profile matches the search), distance (how close you are to the searcher) and prominence (how well known and trusted you are). You can't move your building, but you can improve the other two.

Profile checklist

  • Pick the most specific primary category and add relevant secondary ones.
  • List every service with a short description.
  • Write a clear business description that mentions what you do and where.
  • Upload new photos regularly, including the outside of your premises.
  • Post an update, offer or news item every week.
  • Answer common questions in the Q&A section.

Reviews matter most

Ask every satisfied customer for a review with a direct link, and reply to every review, positive or negative. A steady flow of recent reviews is one of the strongest prominence signals.
